The first step is working with one of Stella's highly experienced, trauma-informed nurse practitioners.

A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice nurse with a master's or doctorate degree with a psychiatric concentration.

They are board certified and licensed to perform the following: 

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling

  • Order testing and services for patients
  • Develop mental health education and resources for patients and families

Dr. Karen DeCocker,  PMHNP-BC

Dr. Karen DeCocker, PMHNP-BC

Dr. DeCocker became a nurse practitioner in 2007 after 10 years of hospital nursing experience. She is a Rush University graduate of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program and her doctoral degree was earned at Frontier Nursing University. Her special focus areas are sexual trauma and care of pregnant women as well as caring for Veterans and their family members. Karen finds a holistic approach that includes understanding family, environment, and community is vital when considering treatment and help for each individual.

Dr. Christina Davis,  PMHNP-BC

As an PMHNP and Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider, Dr. Christina Davis has over 12 years of experience in the mental health field, ranging from leadership positions such as managing a large urban community mental health facility as a charge nurse in the Crisis Stabilization Unit to medication management in residential, detox, and outpatient settings. She utilizes holistic therapy, and solution-focused and evidence-based medicine to meet the needs of every individual.

Earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice with a specialty in Psychiatry, Dr. Hannah Fox has over 12 years of experience in the healthcare field, with five years of psychiatric and primary care nursing in various settings. She has a special interest in psychedelic medicine, including ketamine, psilocybin, and MDMA in treating PTSD, depression, and anxiety.

Dr. Doreen Philips,  PMHNP-BC

Dr. Doreen Philips focused on women's health and the education of new moms before transitioning to working with adolescents to adults in acute care and outpatient facilities. Dr. Philips most recently worked outpatient for practices and telehealth companies, including an at-home Ketamine company. She is passionate about helping people by exploring alternative therapies is focused on establishing rapport with patients to enable a therapeutic relationship and recovery. 

 

Dr. Sarah Ritter,  PMHNP-BC

Sarah has been a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 2015. She has over 13 years of mental health experience in multiple roles and in various settings, including; inpatient, hospital-based outpatient, community mental health, and private practice. She currently serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and as a clinical preceptor for Rush College of Nursing's DNP program.

Jen Gregory, PMHNP-BC

Jen Gregory, PMHNP-BC

Jen Gregory's recognition that mental health is equally as important as - and connected to - one's physical health began during her decade tenure as an RN in the Emergency Department. Her passion for mental health has guided her career, ultimately leading her to pursue her PMHNP-BC with a specific interest in dual-diagnosis, addiction, and trauma/PTSD. Her experience ranges across inpatient/acute care, chemical dependency and detox, IOP, PHP, and medication management.
